Real-Time Systems GmbH and Kontron sign Global Distribution Agreement for RTS Hypervisor

Customers can now purchase pre-integrated and fully tested Embedded Virtualization Platforms from a Single Source

Nuremberg, Germany - February 28th 2012 - Real-Time Systems GmbH today announced that they have signed a global distribution agreement for the RTS Hypervisor with Kontron. Customers may now purchase application ready platforms, i.e. embedded hardware preconfigured with the RTS Hypervisor and operating system licenses directly from a single source. Getting support for real-time virtualization directly from their hardware vendor, customers may drastically shorten their own development cycles and benefit from
cost reduction.


The agreement solidifies the direction of Real-Time Systems to align itself globally with leading turnkey solution providers to further the adoption of its unique hard real-time virtualization solution. Hypervisor technology will enable customers to obtain turnkey solutions thus drastically reducing their Time-to-Market".


By utilizing the RTS Hypervisor, a traditional embedded system, typically consisting of an industrial PC and additional hardware for real-time tasks, can now be replaced by a single hardware platform. Executing e.g. Microsoft Windows® safely in parallel to a real-time operating system on just one board based on Intel processors, reduces the Bill of Materials while increasing reliability and reducing power consumption. This solution is particularly useful for products in the industrial, medical or transportation markets where many customers rely on a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) for time or mission critical functions while using a different OS for other tasks, such as running a human machine interface (HMI). Because the RTS solution does not depend on a host OS, operating systems can start in any sequence, reboot independently and never harm each other.
